Clifford “Peter” Zwerle passed away, suddenly, on December 25th, 2017 at the age of 84 at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Gilbert, Arizona. Peter was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 8th, 1933 to John and Lydia Zwerle. Peter played professional baseball in the minor leagues and was an avid sports fan. He loved to collect military miniatures and enjoyed a good cigar. Peter was additionally devoted to his family and a man of faith. Peter is preceded in death by his parents John and Lydia Zwerle, son Stephen D’Elia, sons-in-law Wolfgang Schweyer and Ferdinand Willems, and brother Jack Zwerle. Peter is survived by his wife Lorraine Zwerle, his children Maureen Schweyer, Rene´e Willems, Denise Portenlanger (Tony), Karen Sigl (Martin), Craig Gering, Bradford Gering (Denise), and his grandchildren: residing in Germany – Andrea, Christina, Lisa Marie, Michael, Lukas, Nickolas, and Ferdinand; and in the United States of America – Griffin, Tyler, Chandler, Bradford, Colton, Jazmin, and Cooper. Rest in Peace Peter… “Take Two and Hit to Right”.
