Life Story for Vera Elizabeth Ulmer (Emmert)

Vera Elizabeth Ulmer (Emmert)
Vera Elizabeth Emmert Ulmer, 92, of Mesa, is absent from the body, present with the Lord, as of Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Mesa AZ. She was born in La Grange, Indiana, one of seven children of John and Grace Emmert. She married William Ulmer in 1939 who preceded her in death in 1994. She attended Goshen College and worked in school systems as Administrative Assistant and Teacher's Aid after her children were raised. Vera loved the outdoors, gardening, poodles and horses. She received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and she is definitely in Heaven based on her decision to trust Christ for her salvation. She served many years in Child Evangelism Fellowship and at the Springdale West Rehabilitation Center, and as Hymn Sing leader at Castillo Nuevo. She was affiliated with Trinity Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, both of Mesa. Vera had a flair for life and enjoyed bright colors, fun outings, family times and serving Christ. She had loving and attentive care at Class Act Assisted Living Home in Mesa since October 2006. She is survived by her twin sister, Velma (Leonard) Kingsley of Bluffton, Ohio, two children Peggy (Don) Marquard and Richard (Karen) Ulmer. Her five grandchildren are Jody Lynn (David) Paul, Troy (Merry) Marquard, Joel (Andrea) Marquard, Noel Marquard, Brooke (Joey) Tartaglia, and Jonathan Ulmer. Her eight great-grandchildren are Holly (Michael) Watson, Chad Paul, Hannah Paul, Mark Paul, Joshua Marquard, Shiloh Tartaglia, Marietta Tartaglia and Solomon Tartaglia. She has one great-great granddaughter, Lily Esther Watson. Memorial gifts will be designated to the mission funds of her granddaughters serving on the mission field: Joey and Brooke Tartaglia in Papua New Guinea and Noel Marquard in Senegal West Africa. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 29 at 10:00 at the Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W. Juniper Ave. Gilbert, AZ. An interment service will be private.
